Another topic that was mentioned in the Goals & Objectives survey was wanting to reach more people (e.g. increase membership, find sponsors).

What are you currently doing (or have you done in the past) to promote your chapter?  Have you seen any other groups do something worth sharing?

This can be anything (web, print, events, social media, etc.).

Some things I have seen:

  1. Holding stash sales to raise money for the chapter and unload excess fabric and sewing notions. When I was involved with the Dallas Makerspace, I promoted the Plano Chapter's stash sales to the Dallas Makerspace's sewing group. I also shared this with my neighborhood mothers' group.
  2. Handing out business cards. The Plano chapter had their URL on the front and blank lines on the back for volunteers/members to write notes for people they met.
  3. Partnering with senior centers, libraries and schools to share sewing knowledge.
  4. Community sew activities.
  5. Adding events/programs to local directories or event calendars (e.g. Eventbrite, Facebook Events, Nextdoor).
  6. The Modern Quilt Guild of Fort Collins recently held a stash sale. The member volunteers were wearing matching t-shirts with a creative design on the front and their chapter's name.

  7. Social media posts.
