One item mentioned in the Goals & Objectives survey was wanting chapter websites to be more interactive.

What does this look like for your chapter?

We will spend time collecting detailed requirements later, but for now, let's just list examples of what could make chapter websites more interactive.

Here are some ideas, but please add yours below!

  1. Password-protected member area with ability for members to upload photos for online "Sew & Tell" and find each other in an optional member directory where members can share as much or as little about themselves as they would like (such as personal social media pages, favorite NGs, what they like to sew).

  2. An event calendar with online registration and payment options that creates a list of attendees that can be printed to make it easier for event sign-in.

  3. A filterable Neighborhood Group area (by area of town and/or NG focus) that contains everything a member or prospective member would need to attend. If NG is held at a member's home, address could be available only if a member is signed into the member area. NG leaders could update their own group information including calendar.

  4. Some chapters have online monthly sewing competitions or an annual contest.

  5. Member marketplace for selling sewing-related items.

  6. Sponsor area with local discounts highlighted for members only.

  7. "Sew & Tell" gallery where members can upload what they are working on.

  8. Personalized content display. One example: allow members to select their favorite NGs and then display the NG name(s), and upcoming meeting date(s)/time(s)/topic(s) on the homepage, NG page and/or Member Area. Include an optional email reminder about the next NG.

Disregard my comment on the other post, this answers that question. These ideas are good. Can't wait to see more!

Also, is there a way to get mobile notifications for this hub? Or maybe an email with daily updates? I know I will forget to log in here if I'm not notified 😜

Tammy - I turned on the forum alerts and you can subscribe to topics and/or threads. It's the default orange (I didn't change the colors) so it should stand out at the top. Once subscribed, you should get an email each time a new response or topic is added... no daily digest option unfortunately. Please let me know if it doesn't work. I'll email you directly about this, too.

I do not have a notification system in place for items added to the Chapter Hub. I will send that list every Sunday night or Monday morning unless it's something urgent.

Plano tried members only section years ago, and it was never used.  We are skeptical about reinstating a members only section.  The only exception would be for neighborhood group leaders to post if a meeting is canceled or any other urgent information.
