Increased Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

I get tons of emails about our current website from developers sharing they can increase our SEO and reach more potential members. Will SEO automatically increase with the new website(s)? Is there something we need to be cognizant of when developing our sites to increase SEO? One a base level we would want to show up if someone enters SEWING and NASHVILLE or TENNESSEE, we would want our website to come up in their search.

What can we do to show up more?

I realize that we want to move forward with this project sooner rather than later but wondered if we could extend the due dates for the next set of surveys because our next Chapter meeting isn't until August 6th and we haven't finalized the Chapter committee for this project. Apologies.

I envision an engaging and timeless website that is easy to navigate and that has current and accurate information. I would like to see photos throughout the site rather than a photo gallery.

These are the tabs that I currently think we need. This will surely evolve.

About: what we are, where/when we meet, how to join. Link to join national.
Calendar: one that shows all meetings and events as well as one for each NG and SIG
Community Service: blankets for veterans, stocking for Nashville Rescue Mission, Vanderbilt Sewing Club
Neighborhood Groups and Special Interest groups: info on each one with contact info and link to group calendar
Donate to Nashville ASG: link to PayPal
Password protected Member Area: link to current and past issues of newsletter, classified area for members to buy/sell/trade items, repository for sewing resources, new member guide
Event registration: link to PayPal account
Contact Us: add CAB members here

Members Only Area

From our initial Zoom, it seems most chapters would like a password protected members area. Items I’d like to see in a members area include:

access to current and previous chapter newsletters in .pdf format
links to sewing resources
Links to files stored on our chapter’s Google drive
neighboorhood groups/special interest groups calendars as well as chapter calendar

What would others like to see in a members area.

Design that Attracts a Younger Demographic

We envision a design that is fresh, approachable, and inclusive. A dated website, such as the one we currently have, will not attract the younger sewist. I’m not sure what all that entails. The content needs to be there for sure but how we present that content has to grab the attention of the visitor and make her want to check out the organization. I’m open to exploring any and all suggestions.
